Ambrose Heal’s lacquered tables represent a genuine evolution in his work. From 1918, they reflect his interest in new styles, influenced by his visit to the Deutsche Werkbund in Cologne in 1914. This change corresponds to trends observed at the same time period in France (Ateliers Martine), Austria (Vienna Secession) and Germany.
