Born in Greece to a family of great art collectors, Marina Karella began a career in theater costumes and sets at the age of 20, initiated by Greek painter Yannis Tsarouchis.
In the 60s, she moved to Paris and concentrated on her work as a visual artist.
She frequented the New Realists, the period of her first white canvases.
At the end of the 70s, she moved to New York, where she exhibited with Alexandre Iolas, a talented dealer and patron of artists such as Jean Tinguely, Niki de St. Phalle, Paul Thek, Poulin and others.

Since 2005, Marina Karella has been living in Europe again, and her work as a painter and visual artist now features in museums and private collections around the world.
